Local Assistence
In every anchorage you will find cheerful young locals on their colourful and dilapidated motror boats to offer you a mooring buoy at a modest fee. Others will offer to sell you fresh fruit, fish and live lobsters or even to organise you a delicious barbecue on the beach. In the evening one will do the rounds taking orders for early morning fresh baguettes and croissants. If you feel lazy and do not wish to lower the dinghy, you can negotiate a water-taxi service to go ashore. Everyone is polite and friendly and does not harass you; a simple "no thank you" will suffice to turn them away. Occasionally a more enterprising young man will offer to organise taxi tours of the island with a driver and a hiking guide for the tropical forrest and keep an eye on your boat at anchor while you are away for the day. In four months of cruising the islands we had not experienced a single unpleasant incident.
